Testimony of Mike Wagner

Before following Christ, I had a pretty normal childhood in a farming community. My parents made sure I attended church each week where I heard a lot of different things about God. I heard that God loved “mankind” and demanded we follow his rules. So I tried to do what “I thought” He expected of me. Yet, the more I tried, the more I failed to measure up! As life’s pressures -and my failures- continued; and, as I entered my adult years, I said “no thank you” to a god that left me feeling so empty. In truth, I decided that God no longer existed.

So I tried to fill my hunger and loneliness with whatever “the world” said would make me feel good about myself. I tried alcohol, drugs, sex, power, material things – everything and anything - that was supposed to bring happiness. Yet, I continued to feel empty. Every promise proved a lie.

One day, empty and defeated, I accepted a bible from a friend, along with his challenge to re-examine the life of Jesus Christ as told in the bible, book of John. He suggested I read and pay attention to what the Bible really said about Jesus. “What did I have to lose?” So I read. And as I read I was amazed as I discovered that Jesus was sent by God to die for the world’s sins; that He did die on a cross; and just like the Bible had promised, He was raised from the dead on the 3rd day. Slowly I realized that Jesus had died for me! One morning I did what the bible said I should do if I wanted to have eternal life. I asked Jesus to be my Savior.

Today, my life as a Christian isn’t always easy. But, whatever the day brings, I know Jesus and I face the day together.

Testimony of Mary Wagner

I grew up in a large family with parents that loved me very much. We attended the Catholic church every Sunday and I attended Catholic schools through 12th grade. I knew a lot about God and wanted to please Him by being good. I had an experience as a child that changed my life forever.

One day I was hungry and sad, and I cried out to God to give me food. I thought my cry was for food to fill my stomach, but God showed me that I needed a different kind of food – a different Someone to satisfy my hunger – Jesus Christ. In the Bible, Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty".

I got up from the floor a new person wanting to pray and talk with Jesus everyday! It was a long time – many years later when I received my first Bible, that I came into a fuller understanding of what Jesus did for me and what happened that day as a young child. Jesus offered Himself as a free Gift to me – He died, was buried, and rose on the third day – for me! I would never be “good enough” to earn it and all I had to do was accept It. He has prepared a place for me and YOU in Heaven! All I had to do was to accept the Free Gift of Jesus Christ – and that’s what you have to do to spend eternity in Heaven with God!

Now, my life is complete. I have so much joy knowing that I will spend eternity in Heaven with God. My life is not without problems, but “I” don’t try to fix them. I turn them over to God and I put the outcome in His hands. I learned to be patient, because God doesn’t always answer my prayers in my time. But no matter what happens, I know that it is what God wants for my life that matters.
